Tartans Sweep Denison and Brockport to End Regular Season

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team closed the regular season with a home sweep of Denison University and SUNY Brockport on Saturday, October 29. The Tartans topped both opponents by 3-0 scores to move to 19-6 overall.

Inside The Box Score vs. Denison

  • The Tartans won by set scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-20.
  • The Tartans hit .223 with 53 total kills.
  • Junior Jane Dean led with 12 kills while freshman Elizabeth Schlemmer had 11 kills.
  • Senior Stella Yan collected 36 assists, seven kills, and 12 digs.
  • Five Tartans had double-digit digs with sophomore Laura Reichard leading with 19.

Inside The Box Score vs. Brockport

  • The Tartans won by set scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-10.
  • Brockport hit just .066 and the Tartans had five blocks.
  • Reichard, senior Arianna Rosario, and freshman Kai Herchenroether each had two block assists.
  • Schlemmer led with 14 kills and hit .545.
  • Reichard had 10 kills and added 13 digs.
  • Yan collected 35 assists and now has 2,208 and sits seventh all-time for the Tartans.

  • The Tartans will travel to New York, New York, for the University Athletic Association Championship and play the University of Chicago in the quarterfinals on Friday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m.
