Tartans Place Fourth at UAA Championship Tournament

(NEW YORK, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team placed fourth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship Tournament after falling to sixth-ranked New York University on Saturday by a 3-1 score. The Tartans close the regular season with a 20-8 mark.

Inside The Box Score

  • NYU took a two-set lead with wins of 25-13 and 25-20 before the Tartans took set three by a 25-22 score. NYU then finished the match with a 25-16 win.
  • Freshman Bella Woodard led the offense with 14 kills while hitting .429 through four sets.
  • Senior Stella Yan closed her UAA campaign with 21 assists and led the team with 20 digs to record her 21st double-double of the season.
  • Junior Mindee Lai picked up 15 digs while sophomore Abby Chen collected 14 digs.
  • Freshman Isabella Sierra led at the net with a block solo and block assist.
  • Freshman Katherine Jackson picked up two service aces to run her season total to 16.

  • Yan finishes the regular season with 996 assists.
  • The Tartans won 20 matches under Anne Bock for the second time in three full seasons.
  • The Tartans placed fourth at the UAA Championship Tournament for the fourth straight season.
