Tartans Open Season with 3-1 Win at Franklin & Marshall

(LANCASTER, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Friday night to play in the Diplomats of Franklin and Marshall College and won 3-1 to open the 2023 season.

Inside The Box Score

  • Sophomore Elizabeth Schlemmer led a trio of Tartans with double figure kills, as she had 15.
  • Seniors Avani Seshiah and Laura Reichard finished with 12 and 11, respectively. It marked a career-best for Seshiah.
  • Senior Mindee Lai handed out a career-high 44 assists and tabbed double-digits in digs with 14.
  • Junior Abby Chen started the season with 21 digs to lead the Tartans while Reichard ended with 13 and led the Tartans at the net with three block assists and one solo block.

Notes and Notables  

  • The Tartans have won nine straight against the Diplomats.
  • This was the first meeting between the two schools since the 2018 season.
  • Carnegie Mellon has now won four of the last five matches to open its season.
