Tartans Open Weekend with 3-1 Win at SUNY Geneseo

(GENESEO, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball opened the SUNY-Geneseo Invitational with a 3-1 win against the hosts on Friday, November 3. The Tartans are now 19-7 for the season.

  • The Tartans won the first set 25-15 before the Knights answered with a 25-19 win in set two.
  • The Tartans took set three by a 25-18 score before finishing off a 29-27 set-four win with back-to-back kills.
  • Sophomore Elizabeth Schlemmer led the offense with 14 kills.
  • Senior Avani Seshiah picked up 12 kills and senior Laura Reichard put down 10 kills.
  • Freshman Neha Tummala dished out a season-high 45 assists as the primary setter.
  • The Tartans had 10 service aces with Tummala leading with four and freshman Zoe Gavros collecting three.
  • Reichard led with 20 digs with Tummala picking up a season-best 18 digs and Chen collecting 12 digs.

  • The Tartans will continue play at Geneseo on Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. match against RIT before playing Fredonia at 10:00 a.m.
