Tartans Finish Fifth at Annual Invite

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team hosted its annual invitational on Saturday, October 6, in Schenley Park. The Tartans women's cross country team finished fifth overall as Division II Indiana University of Pa. took first place.

Senior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) led the Tartans as she finished the 5k course with a time of 18:54.8 to place 10th. Sophomore Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was the second Tartan to cross placing 23rd with a time of 19:23.7.  

Finishing three second behind Bayer was junior Elise Hall (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro Senior) in 25th-place with a time of 19:26.6  Carnegie Mellon's senior Eva Humphrey (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) and freshman Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci & Tech) finished a half second apart in 46th and 47th.  Humphrey finished with a time of 19:55.5 while Schnepf crossed in 19:56.0.

Rounding out the Tartans top seven spots were freshmen Jillian Jaycox (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) and Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak).  Jaycox placed 53rd with a time of 20:08.8 and Maggiacomo crossed in 20:18.8 in 56th.

The Tartans will next compete at the Region Rumble hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday, October 13, with an 11:00 a.m. start time.
