Tartans Open Season at Duquesne

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team opened its 2013 season at the Duquesne Duals in Schenley Park Saturday, August 31. The Tartan were the only non-Division I team competing in the event.

Junior Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y.) was the first to finish for the Tartans as she crossed the line 39th overall in a time of 20:39.9. Sophomore Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) was second on the team and finished the race in 44th-place in 20:57.4. Sophomore Haley Bryant crossed in 21:06.7 to place two spots behind Maggiacomo while sophomore Zofia Tillman (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake) finished the race with a time of 21:35.2.

Sophomore Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) and freshman Joan Sullivan (Northampton, Mass.) finished 0.1 second apart with times of 21:41.2 and 21:41.3.

The Tartans will race again on Friday, September 13 at Cooper's Lake Campground for the Slippery Rock Invitational at 5:00 p.m.
