Tartans Win Mack Cooper Invitational; Five Tartans Finish in Top 10

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team had five runners place in the top 10 at the Mack Cooper Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University at Cooper's Lake Campground to win the invitational. Junior Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif.) paced the Tartans with a time of 23:40.99 to place second.

Freshman Rachel McCoy (Blacksburg, Va.) and sophomore Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci & Tech) finished in third and fourth with times of 24:04.13 and 24:12.81, respectively.  Freshman Emily Joyce (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) placed seventh with a time of 24:29.83 while junior Sara Kelly was the fifth Tartan to cross in the top 10, as she crossed in 24:55.66 to place ninth.

Sophomore Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) was 14th overall and sixth on the team in 25:08.50 as junior Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y.) finished seventh on the team and 16th overall in 25:18.75.

The Tartans will travel to Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa., on Saturday, September 21 for a 10:00 a.m. start.
