Tartans Finish Fifth at Lock Haven Invitational

(LOCK HAVEN, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team finished fifth at the Lock Haven University Invitational on Saturday, September 2. For the second straight season at the event, the team had one top 10 finisher as it competed against 15 teams.

Junior Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif.) led the Tartans for the second straight week, as she finished ninth with a time of 22:15.80 on the 6k course. Sophomore Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci & Tech) was the second  finisher for the Tartans as she crossed in 13th-place in 22:21.60. Freshman Emily Joyce (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) was the third Tartan to cross.  The freshman finished in 19th with a time of 22:38.80.

Behind Joyce for Carnegie Mellon was fellow freshman Rachel McCoy (Blacksburg, Va.) in 37th. She finished the race in 23:23.50. Sophomore Priya Patel (Piscataway, N.J.) crossed with a time of 23:30.90 while sophomore Haley Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) and junior Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y.) rounded out the Tartans top seven with times of 23:52.00 and 23:52.60.

Carnegie Mellon will head to Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 5 to run in the Louisville Classic.
