Tartans Compete at the Greater Louisville Classic

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team competed at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday, October 5.  The race had a field of 329 runners from Division I, II and III with the Tartans placing 11th out of 26 Non Division I institutions.

For the third straight race junior Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif.) paced the Tartans.  The junior crossed with a time of 19:13.49 on the 5k course.  Her time was 37th overall and 19th best of Non Division I runners.  Sophomore Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci & Tech) was the second Tartan to cross, as she finished with a time of 19:24.04 to place 57th and 31st.

Sophomore Priya Patel (Piscataway, N.J.) was the third Tartan to cross the line with a time of 19:54.99.  Senior Catherine Paquette (Bethel, Ohio/Archbishop McNicholas) and sophomore Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) were the fourth and fifth Tartans to cross.  Paquette had a time of 20:18.64 and Maggiacomo crossed in 20:25.32.  Junior Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y.) ended the race with at time of 20:35.08.

The Tartans will host the Carnegie Mellon Invite on Saturday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m.
