Schnepf Runs Her Way to the NCAA Championship

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Only in her sophomore season, Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci. & Tech), of the Carnegie Mellon University of the women's cross country team, has wasted no time mounting herself as an elite runner and has received her first automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Championship.

After finishing the 2013 Mideast Regional 6k on Saturday, November 16 with a time of 22:11, her best time of the season at this distance, she will be heading to Hanover, Indiana for a chance at the national title.  Schnepf improved on her time from last year's regional meet by almost two full minutes (24:06) to finish first for the Tartans. The sophomore becomes just the sixth Tartan to qualify for the NCAA Championship as an individual.

Schnepf  is one of the 56 individuals and 32 seven-person teams who will be competing for the national title Saturday, November 23.

The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. EST and the men's race will start at 12:30 p.m. EST.
