Tartans Race to First Place at Inter-Regional Rumble

(OBERLIN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team won the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College Saturday, October 17 by finishing with a team score of 115. The Tartans finished ahead of two University Athletic Association (UAA) teams and nationally ranked Allegheny College.

Senior Rekha Schnepf (McLean, Va./Thomas Jefferson HS for Sci. & Tech) led the Tartans with a third-place finish, as she finished the 6K race in a time of 21:19.4. Fellow senior Haley Bryant (Colorado Springs, Colo./Palmer) crossed the finish line in 16th place after running the race in 21:59.1.

Another pair of seniors finished next for the Tartans, as Kira Ragazzo (Frederick, Md./Urbana) was 27th overall in 22:12.8 and Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) was 28th overall in 22:13.0.

The senior-laden team saw senior Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) finish fifth for the Tartans and 41st overall in 22:31.7. Junior Zofia Tillman (Westminster, Colo./Standley Lake) crossed the finish line 57th overall in 22:45.5 while sophomore Rhiannon Farney (Winston Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) was 87th overall in 23:11.0.

The Tartans will next compete at the UAA Championships on Saturday, October 31 at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
