Tartans Race to Fourth Place at Rowan Inter-Regional

(GLASSBORO, N.J.) -  The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team ran to a fourth-place finish at the Rowan University Inter-Regional Invitational on Saturday in Glassboro, New Jersey. With 175 points the women finished behind Johns Hopkins, Dickinson, and SUNY Geneseo. 

Senior Abigail Levine (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) led the Tartans in the interregional race, finishing 21st overall in a time of 22:20. Fellow senior Valerie Collins (Wellesley, Mass. / Wellesley) was second for the Cardinal and Gray with a time of 22:36. "It was a big field but I don't think we were intimidated by it. We've been training hard, and I wanted to go out there and show what our team is capable of. I felt strong but I think I have more to prove this season," said Collins. 

Kristen Seballos (Cleveland, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) was third for the Tartans placing 41st overall in 22:46, while freshman Joyce Zhang (Ellicott City, Md. / Centennial High School) finished just a second behind Seballos in 42nd with a time of 22:47. 

Senior Wade Lacey (Albany, N.Y. / The Albany Academies) finished fifth for the Tartans in 50th overall in a time of 22:47. Junior Parvathi Meyyappan (Cupertino, Calif. / Monta Vista) was 75th in a time of 23:27. Sophomore Taylor Jacobs (Bozeman, Mont. / The Taft School) closed out the Tartans' top seven in 102nd place in a time of 24:01 overall. 

The Tartans will next compete at the University Athletic Association Championships at home in Schenley Park, Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, November 2.
