Tartans Start 2023 Season at Panther Opener

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team opened its 2023 campaign at the Panther Opener at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Friday morning. The Tartans scored 77 points and placed fourth on the 5k course.

Results:

  • Sophomore Orit Shiang crossed first for the Tartans and 13th overall in 18:02.2.
  • Freshman Lily Beerhalter took 17th crossing the line in 18:30.0.
  • In 18th was sophomore Margaret Ann Healy in 18:36.2.
  • Sophomore Jackie Liu crossed with a time of 18:42.0 to place 21st.
  • The Cardinal and Gray had three runners place 26th, 27th and 28th, respectively, with junior Avery Tompkins crossing in 18:52.2, freshman Maya Ducker in 18:52.4 and senior Isabella Rhee in 18:54.3.

  • Saturday, September 23 at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational. The race starts at 11:15 a.m. at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania.
