14 Carnegie Mellon Athletes Named to the 12th Annual UAA Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University had 14 student-athletes named to the 12th Annual University Athletic Association (UAA) Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced be the league’s office on Wednesday. The 14 Tartans, three men’s cross country, two football, men’s golf, women’s golf, softball, men’s tennis and one women’s tennis, received the prestigious honor along with 142 other student-athletes representing all eight UAA member institutions.

Five Selected to All-UAA Softball Team

Five Carnegie Mellon University softball players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches with recognition on the 2020 UAA Softball All-Association Team. Sophomores Megan Hu (Katy, Texas / Seven Lakes) and Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Huntington Beach) are repeat honorees while sophomore Emily Song (Mount Arlington, N.J. / Roxbury) and freshmen Tessa Bruneau (Edgewater Park, N.J. / Holy Cross Prep) and Emily Finger (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley) are honored for the first time.

Tartans Finish Shortened Season with Victory

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team finished its trip to Florida for The Spring Games on Friday, March 13 with a 4-1 loss to the University of Mount Union (11-2) and a 3-1 win against Skidmore College (4-5). The Tartans finish the shortened season with a 7-5 record.
Tartans' Offense Stalls in Two Defeats

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped two contests on Thursday, March 12 at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. The Tartans are now 6-4 after a 7-2 defeat to Heidelberg University (6-2) and a 2-0 defeat to Defiance College (5-7).
Another Sweep For the Tartans Makes Five Straight Wins

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team ran its record to 6-2 with its fifth straight win after a sweep against Wheaton (Mass.) College and Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, March 11 at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. The Tartans first topped Wheaton by a 5-3 score before ending the evening with a 6-4 win against Behrend.

The Carnegie Mellon University softball team swept play on Monday, March 9 at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, scoring 20 runs on 26 hits in a 6-4 win against Mount St. Joseph College and a 14-7 win against Emmanuel College to move to 4-2 for the season.
