Shaw Named UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University junior Jacquie Shaw (Portland, Ore./Grant) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her performance this past week in the Tartans two UAA contests.

Shaw turned in a career performance in the Tartans' overtime loss to Rochester last Friday night.  The junior poured in 31 points while shooting 68% (13-19) from the floor.  Shaw also recorded a season-high four steals against the Yellowjackets.  In the Tartans setback to Emory, Shaw recorded 10 points while dishing out five assists.

Shaw became the second Tartan to score 30 or more points in a game since 1989.  Last season, senior teammate Emily Peel (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) had games of 30 or more on two occasions, dropping in 32 and 33.  

The Tartans host #7 Washington University on Friday, January 25 at 6:00 p.m. before entertaining the University of Chicago Sunday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium.
