Tartans Place 14 on Basketball and Swimming & Diving Academic All-District Teams

Fourteen men’s and women’s basketball and swimming and diving Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC, for the fall season. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.

Tartans Close Season at Case Western Reserve

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team closed the season at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 24 with a 63-52 loss. The Tartans finish the year with an overall record of 11-14 with a 3-11 mark in University Athletic Association (UAA) play while the Spartans finish at 11-14 and 4-10.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team faced 22nd-ranked Emory University on Sunday, February 18 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. The Tartans dropped the contest by a 72-54 score to fall to 11-13 overall and 3-10 in the UAA. The Eagles are now 19-5 and 9-4.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team opened its final home weekend in University Athletic Association (UAA) play with a 78-41 victory against the University of Rochester. The Tartans are now 11-12 overall and 3-9 in the UAA while the Yellowjackets move to 10-13 and 5-7.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team visited the top-ranked New York University Violets on Sunday, February 11 for a University Athletic Association (UAA) game. The Violets held court and topped the Tartans, 76-54. The Tartans are now 10-12 overall and 2-9 in the UAA while the Violets move to 22-0 and 11-0.

Five Score in Double Figures in Loss at Brandeis

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team hit the road for University Athletic Association (UAA) action to face Brandeis University on Friday, February 9. The Tartans dropped the game by two points, 72-70, to move to 10-11 for the season and 2-8 in the UAA. The Judges moved to 5-16 and 1-9.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team hosted the University of Chicago on Sunday, February 4. Despite 24 points from junior Anisha Chintala, the Tartans couldn’t get past the Maroons, who are receiving votes for the third straight week in the D3hoops.com Top 25, and fell 70-57. The Tartans are now 10-10 overall and 2-7 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while the Maroons are 14-6 and 7-2.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team dropped a 71-69 game to Washington University in St. Louis on Friday, February 2. The Tartans led going into the fourth quarter but a comeback by the Bears dropped the Tartans to 10-9 for the season and 2-6 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Bears are now 12-7 and 5-3.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team visited the University of Chicago on Sunday, January 28 for a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. The Tartans led early in the third quarter but the Maroons were able to protect their home court by shooting 61.1% in the final frame to win, 72-58. The Tartans are now 10-8 overall and 2-5 in the UAA while the Maroons, who are receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25, are now 12-6 and 5-2.

Four Reach Double Figures in Road Loss at WashU

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team played its third straight University Athletic Association (UAA) road contest on Friday, January 26 at Washington University in St. Louis. The Tartans shot 51.7% from the field but gave up 90 points to the Bears and fell 90-81 to move to 10-7 overall and 2-4 in the UAA. WashU is now 10-7 and 3-3.

January 21, 2024

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team faced 10th-ranked Emory University on Sunday, January 21 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. The Eagles avoided the upset by connecting on seven more three-pointers than the Tartans for a 62-52 win. The Tartans are now 10-6 overall and 2-3 in the UAA while the Eagles are 14-2 and 4-1.
