Or Scores 27 in Tartans’ 91-48 Victory Against Waynesburg

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team topped Waynesburg University, 91-48, on Saturday, December 3 to move to 7-0 for the season behind 27 points from sophomore Catherine Or. The Yellow Jackets are now 0-7.

How it Happened

  • The Tartans held Waynesburg to 1-of-12 shooting and five points in the first quarter to take a 28-5 lead.
  • Or was 6-of-7 in the first quarter, scoring 15 of her game and season-high 27 points.
  • Freshman Savannah Gibbs hit two three-pointers in the second quarter to help the Tartans extend the lead by five points to 28 at halftime.
  • The bench led the Tartans in the third quarter, scoring 16 points with junior Jamie Joseph leading with five.
  • The Tartans continued their hot shooting in the final frame, hitting 56.3% from the floor with the bench scoring 19 of 21 points.

For the Tartans

  • Or led the Tartans with 27 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
  • Or and Gibbs each hit a career-best three three-pointers.
  • Freshman Ava Black recorded a team-high six rebounds.
  • Freshman Ellen Angwin led the Tartans off the bench with a career-best eight points and four rebounds.

For the Yellow Jackets

  • Three players scored in double digits with Avery Robinson leading the way with 15 points.
  • Anika Dansby hit four three-pointers to score 12 points with Marley Wolf converting 7-of-7 free throws to score 14 points.

Notes

  • The Tartans shot better than 50% for the third straight game, hitting a season-best 54.5% from the field.
  • The Tartans have scored more than 80 points in four games this season with a season-best 91 scored against the Yellow Jackets.
