Alligood and Hsu Named UAA Men’s Track and Field Most Outstanding Outdoor Performers, Coaching Staff Honored

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Sam Alligood and senior Jacob Hsu were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) when the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field awards were announced Tuesday. Alligood was named Most Outstanding Performer in the field events, while Hsu was Most Outstanding Performer in the running events. Both played a major contribution in helping lead the Tartans to back-to-back UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The coaching staff was also honored as the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been selected to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 14-17 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Neveda, on the Desert Hawk-Coyote Run Golf Courses. The University of Nevada and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will be hosting the four-day event.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team has been selected to compete for the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship and will have the honor of hosting the first, second and third rounds of competition. The appearance in the postseason event will be the 18th for the program, all coming under head coach Andrew Girard. The Tartans will host action on Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11 with five teams traveling to Pittsburgh.

Four Carnegie Mellon University softball players have been honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches with selection to the Softball All-Association team for 2024. Seniors Kiera Boucher and Amanda Smith, along with sophomore Maya Goodwin were selected to the first team with sophomore Koko Sagae selected to the second team. All four earned their first career awards.

Kiera Boucher is a senior mechanical engineering major and one of the top players on Carnegie Mellon University's softball team. She holds nine career records, four season records, and two game records. Some of those records include the single-season program record for runs scored (30), the single-season program record for RBIs (28), the single-season program record for stolen bases (21), and career records for hits (123), stolen bases (55), runs scored (91), sacrifice hits (13), triples (8), and home runs (8).
