Men’s Basketball Earns Team Academic Honors by NABC for Eighth Straight Season; Eight Individuals Honored

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) when the committee on academics announced the annual Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2019-20. In the eighth year of the program, the Tartans are one of 13 institutions from Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA, that have been recognized each of the eight years.
Three Tartans Named to the All-UAA Men’s Basketball Team

Senior Trent Suddeth (Winter Park, Fla./Trinity Prep), senior Zach Howarth (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vianney) and senior Colin McNeil (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team were named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Team when the Association announced its postseason accolades on Thursday. Suddeth found a spot on the second team while Howarth and McNeil were named honorable mention. This marks Howarth’s third straight All-UAA honor, as he appeared on the second team the previous two seasons.
Tartans Send Seniors Off With 87-65 Win Over Case Western Reserve

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team ended the season on Saturday with an 87-65 win over the visiting Spartans of Case Western Reserve University. The University Athletic Association (UAA) finale for both teams was played on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium.

Senior Colin McNeil (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) becomes Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball all-time leader in assists during the Tartans’ 82-81 overtime setback to the visiting Yellowjackets of the University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon in Skibo Gymnasium. The Tartans are now 10-14 overall and 3-10 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play while the Yellowjackets move to 16-8, 7-6.
Nakasian Scores Career-High in Tartans’ 98-86 Setback to #8 Emory

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team host the eighth-ranked Eagles of Emory University Friday night on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium and fell by the score of 98-86. The University Athletic Association (UAA) setback leaves Carnegie Mellon’s overall record to 10-13 and 3-9 in league play, while Emory is now 20-3, 10-2.
McNeil Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Carnegie Mellon University senior Colin McNeil (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men’s Basketball Team, as announced by the association. McNeil is one of five players on the District 4 team. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.
Tartans Drop Final UAA Road Contest to #16 WASHU

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team concluded its away University Athletic Association (UAA) schedule on Sunday at 16th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis and dropped a 99-68 contest. Carnegie Mellon is now 10-12 overall and 3-8 in UAA play while WASHU improves to 18-4 and 9-2.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team held a three-point lead with four minutes to play but a late run by the 13th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis Bears ended the home squad's upset bid and propelled the visitors to a 80-72 win against the Tartans on Sunday, January 19. The Tartans are now 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Bears move to 12-2 and 3-0.
