Men's Soccer Alum Young Kang (CIT '92) Names Covered Team Benches

The Carnegie Mellon University Soccer Facility received a pair of significant enhancements this spring, as two covered team benches were added for the teams. The benches were made possible through the generosity of Young Kang, a 1992 CIT graduate who played four years of soccer at Carnegie Mellon.

Junior goalkeeper Christopher Madden of men’s soccer is a three-year letter winner for the Tartans with 21 career starts. In his first full season as a starter in net, he helped the Tartans to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament with a record of 13-4-1. Sarett Heads List of Scholar All-East Region Recipients

Carnegie Mellon University junior Matt Sarett (Huntersville, N.C./Cannon) heads a list of four men's soccer athletes named to the NSCAA 2012 Men's College Division Scholar All-East Region team. This marks Sarett's second academic award of the season and second NSCAA award as he was named an All-Great Lakes Region player for his efforts on the field.

Sarett and Bryant Named to Capital One Academic All-America Team

Two Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer players have been named to the Capital One Academic All-America team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) following their outstanding 2012 season which included a team record of 13-4-1 and a win in the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. Junior Matt Sarett (Huntersville, N.C./Cannon) earned first team honors while senior Ben Bryant (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) was selected to the second team.
#6 Tartans End Season in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

The #6 Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team dropped a hard fought match to #10 Ohio Northern University 3-1 on Sunday, November 11 in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship at home in Pittsburgh, Pa. After a 1-1 tie through the first half, the Polar Bears were able to use momentum generated by a save from their keeper to get ahead and put away the Tartans midway through the second period.
#6 Tartans Advance in NCAA Championship, Defeat Morrisville State 3-0

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team broke through in the second period for three goals to defeat Morrisville State College 3-0 in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship on its home field in Pittsburgh, Pa. The #6 Tartans advance to the second round with a record of 13-3-1.
Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff and Five Players Reap All-Association Honors

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team was rewarded for its first-place finish in the University Athletic Association (UAA) as five players were named to the All-Association team. The coaching staff was also honored as it shares UAA Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff of the Year with Brandeis University’s staff.
Men's Soccer to Host NCAA First and Second Rounds

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team will host the NCAA Division III First and Second Rounds on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11. The Tartans received an automatic bid to the championship for winning the University Athletic Association Championship and finishing the regular season with a 12-3-1 record.

A classic battle between the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team and the visiting Emory University Eagles finished with the Eagles winning 1-0 to force a four-way tie at the top of the University Athletic Association (UAA). By virtue of head-to-head wins against Brandeis and Washington, the Tartans earn the automatic bid for the NCAA Championship.

Following back-to-back University Athletic Association (UAA) road victories for the 6th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team, junior Max Tassano (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) and sophomore Jakob Rohwer (Southborough, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) were honored by the UAA and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week. Tassano earned offensive honors while Rohwer was honored on the defensive side.

With a 2-1 win Sunday, the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team stands atop the University Athletic Association (UAA) with one game to play. The #6 Tartans won their fourth straight and third straight road game with the win over #17 Brandeis and are now 12-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the UAA.

The #6 Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team defeated New York University 4-1 on Friday afternoon in Riverdale, N.Y. to stay atop the University Athletic Association (UAA) standings with a 3-1-1 UAA mark. Two late first half goals proved to be the difference as the Tartans improve to 11-2-1 overall and leave the Violets at 10-5-1 and 2-2-1 in the UAA.
#8 Tartans Rally for Overtime Win at Grove City

The #8 Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat Grove City College 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. Senior Ben Bryant (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) put in the winner a minute into extra time to help advance the Tartans' record to 10-2-1 on the season.

The #5 Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team took care of business Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 victory against visiting Case Western Reserve University in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The Tartans improve their record to 9-2-1 and 2-1-1 while the Spartans drop to 3-10-1 and 0-4-0.
