Three Tartans Named WGCA All-American Scholars

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team had three student-athletes named to the 2016-17 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, as announced by the organization. Junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South), sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) and freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) received the honor for the Cardinal and Gray. The three marked the first in the three-year history of the program to be named to the team.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team had three athletes honored by the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) coaches on the All-UAA team when the awards were announced May 4. Heading the list was junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) who was a first-team honoree. Freshmen Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) and Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) both found a spot on the second team.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the Westminster Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 22, as the Tartans won their fifth event of the season and fourth straight. Carnegie Mellon carded a team score of 335 at the 18-hole event held at the New Castle Country Club.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team won the Wooster Spring Invitational after carding a 329 on Sunday, April 16 to finish the 36-hole event with a 653 (324-329). The two-day event was played at the par-72, 5803-yard Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team closed the opening round of the Wooster Spring Invitational in second place on Saturday, April 15 after carding a 324. The 36-hole event is being played at the par-72, 5803-yard Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio. The host, Wooster, leads the field with a 319.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team continued play at the Carnegie Mellon Spring Shootout Sunday, April 9 at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Tartans carded a team score of 313 on Sunday to win the 36-hole event with a 631 (318-313) on the par-72, 5,863-yard course. The Tartans team score of 313 on Sunday topped the school record for the lowest round while the 631 set the school record for the lowest two-round score.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team hosted the first day of the Carnegie Mellon Spring Shootout Saturday, April 8 at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Tartans are currently tied for first in a field of six teams after play on Saturday, as they fired a team score of 318 on the par-72, 5,863-yard course. The Tartans team score of 318 tied the school record for the lowest round.

Carnegie Mellon University freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho/Idaho Falls) was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Corvias Division III Women’s Golf Rookie of the Month for March on Thursday, April 6. Lui earned two top-five finishes in three tournaments and led the Tartans to the title of the 2017 TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate during the month.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team placed first at its spring invitational on Wednesday, April 5 after carding a 334. The 18-hole event was held at the par 72 Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pennsylvania. Top individual medalist honors went to Tartan junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) who carded a five-over par 77.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team closed play at the 2017 Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday, March 19. The Tartans finished sixth with a three-round total of 963 (319-322-322) on the par-72, 5,801-yard course at the Indian Mounds Golf Club on Jekyll Island. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was comprised of 23 Division III teams including 10 ranked in the top 25 nationally. The Tartans' 963 is the best three-round score in the programs young history.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf continued playing in the second day of the 2017 Jekyll Island Collegiate Saturday, March 18. The Tartans fired a team score of 322 and currently are tied with ninth-ranked Methodist University for seventh after 36-holes of play with a two-round total of 641. The three-day event is being played on the par-72, 5,801-yard Indian Mounds Golf Club on Jekyll Island and the field is comprised of 23 Division III teams including 10 ranked in the top 25 nationally.

The Tartans are currently tied for fourth-place with the fourth-ranked team in the nation, Rhodes College, after carding a season-best team score of 319 Friday, March 17 on the par-72, 5,801-yard course. The field is comprised of 23 Division III teams including 10 ranked in the top 25 nationally.

The Tartans finished the 36-hole, two-day event in third after carding a 699 (359-340) on the par-72 Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida.
