The Carnegie Mellon women’s volleyball team opened the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship at Calvin College against 9th-ranked University of Mount Union Purple Raiders on Thursday, November 14. The Tartans, making their second appearance at the NCAA Championship tournament under ninth year head coach Kim Kelly and the third in program history, dropped a hard fought 3-0 match by the scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.

For the second consecutive season, junior right side Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Celentano receives the honor days after being named to the All-University Athletic Association squad and the same day the Tartans will compete in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Junior right side Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) was named to the first team, senior outside hitter Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) earned second team honors while freshman middle blocker Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) was named honorable mention.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the second day of the Wid Guisler Invitational at Juniata College on Saturday, October 26. Junior Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) recorded her 1,000th career kill on Saturday as she recorded a total of 22 kills in the two matches putting her career tally at 1,012. The Tartans now have an overall record of 21-8.

The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team ended play Sunday, October 20 with two victories at the second University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. The Tartans improve to 19-7, 4-3 after winning two 3-1 matches. The first victory came over #19 University of Chicago before topping University of Rochester in the nightcap.
