ITA Honors Men’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Nine Named Scholar Athletes

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the eighth straight season and 15th time in the last 16 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, nine players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
Levine Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) competed in the opening day 2017 NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Championship at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Thursday, May 25. His play on Thursday earned him All-America honors.
Girard, Rozenvasser Honored with ITA Atlantic South Awards

Carnegie Mellon University head tennis coach Andrew Girard and freshman Michael Rozenvasser (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) when the 2017 Division III regional awards were announced last week. Girard was named the Wilson/ITA Atlantic South Coach of the Year for the women while Rozenvasser earned ITA Rookie of the Year for the men.
Six Named to Men’s Tennis All-UAA Team

Six Carnegie Mellon University men’s tennis players were named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Tennis Team on Wednesday, May 17 following the 2016-17 season. This marks the first year the Association named an All-Tournament team and an All-UAA team.
Zheng One of Four to Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Honors

Four Carnegie Mellon University athletes were recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams. Senior men's golfer George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) earns the award for the third time while senior men's tennis player Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central), senior women's tennis player Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior women's swimmer Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) receive the honor for the first time.
Three Individuals to Compete for NCAA Tennis Singles Championship

Carnegie Mellon University will have three tennis players in the singles field at the 2017 NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Tennis Championships after senior Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) were selected on the women’s side and sophomore Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) was selected on the men’s side. The NCAA Singles Championship will begin on May 25 at The Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked seventh in the nation, faced fifth-ranked University of Chicago in the third-place match at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Sunday, April 23. Carnegie Mellon dropped a 6-3 decision to the Maroons. The Tartans move to 16-9 on the year while the Maroons are now 17-4. The three-day event was held at the Sanlando Park Tennis Complex in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

For the second straight season, the seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team faced No. 2 Emory University in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship semifinals on Saturday, April 22. The Tartans dropped a 6-3 decision to the Eagles and are now 16-8 while Emory moves to 16-4. The three-day event is being held at the Sanlando Park Tennis Complex in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team won its University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship quarterfinal match with an 8-1 decision over Case Western Reserve University on Friday, April 21. The Tartans, ranked seventh in the nation, are now 16-7 on the season while the 12th-ranked Spartans move to 19-5. It marks the 11th straight season that the Tartans advance to the semifinals of the championship tournament. The three-day event is being held at the Sanlando Park Tennis Complex in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team traveled to Kenyon College to face 24th-ranked Kenyon and 26th-ranked Lewis & Clark College. The Tartans earned two victories, 5-4 versus Kenyon and 5-0 versus Lewis & Clark, to improve to 13-7 on the year.

The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team closed out its spring break tour with a 5-2 win against Division I Lehigh University at Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday, March 15. The Tartans move to 10-7 for the year while the Mountain Hawks drop to 2-9.
