Men’s Basketball Earns Fourth Straight Team Academic Honor by NABC; Six Individuals Honored

For the fourth consecutive year, the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) when the committee on academics announced the annual Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2015-16. Besides the team being honored, six members were selected to the NABC Honors Court, recognizing those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2015-16 season.

Serbin Named First Team ECAC Division III South Men’s Basketball All-Star

Carnegie Mellon University junior Jack Serbin (New Albany, Ohio) garnered his second straight ECAC Division III Men's South Basketball All-Star honor. Serbin was named to the first team on Tuesday after garnering second team accolades a year ago. The postseason honor is the second for Serbin as he was named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Second Team.

Freshman Patrick Ehland (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team becomes the second Tartan to be named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year as the Association announced its postseason accolades on Wednesday, March 2.
Serbin Garners Second Straight CoSIDA Academic All-America Men’s Basketball Honor

For the second straight season, Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball junior Jack Serbin (New Albany, Ohio) was named to the Academic All-America Division III Men’s Basketball team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Tuesday, March 1. Serbin found a spot on the 2016 second team after being named to the third team a year ago.
Serbin Records 16th Double-Double in Setback to Case Western Reserve

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team finished its season with a 93-87 setback to Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 27. Junior Jack Serbin (New Albany, Ohio) led the Tartans on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium with his 16th double-double of the season. The loss ends the Tartans season with a 10-15 record and 3-11 mark in University Athletic Association (UAA) play while the Spartans end their campaign at 12-13, 5-9.
Men’s Basketball Wins Double-Overtime Thriller Over Rochester

Six players scored in double figures, as the Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team won a, 102-97, thriller at home in double-overtime over the University of Rochester on Sunday, February 21 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The Tartans are now 21-1 when scoring 100 or more points in a contest dating back to the 1947-48 season. The win moves Carnegie Mellon’s record to 10-14, 3-10 UAA while the Yellowjackets, who entered the game in a tie for the first place in the UAA, are now 17-7, 10-3.
Men’s Basketball’s Early Second Half Run Not Enough in Setback to Emory

Serbin Repeats on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Carnegie Mellon University junior Jack Serbin (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2015-16 Men’s Basketball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Serbin is one of eight players on the District 4 team and earns the honor for the second year. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.
