The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team was honored for the eighth straight season and 15th time in the last 16 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, five players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

Carnegie Mellon University head tennis coach Andrew Girard and freshman Michael Rozenvasser (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) when the 2017 Division III regional awards were announced last week. Girard was named the Wilson/ITA Atlantic South Coach of the Year for the women while Rozenvasser earned ITA Rookie of the Year for the men.

Five Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis players were named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Tennis Team on Tuesday, May 16 following the 2016-17 season. This marks the first year the Association named an All-Tournament team and an All-UAA team.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team finished the season in the regional championship of the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship on Sunday, May 14 with a 5-0 loss to host Williams College. The Tartans, ranked 10th in the nation, close the year with a 19-8 record, while the Ephs advance to the quarterfinals and have a 17-4 record.

The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team defeated 15th-ranked University of Mary Washington on Saturday, May 13 in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship. The match was played inside at the Lansing Chapman Rink in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Four Carnegie Mellon University athletes were recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large Teams. Senior men's golfer George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) earns the award for the third time while senior men's tennis player Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central), senior women's tennis player Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior women's swimmer Kim Hochstedler (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn) receive the honor for the first time.

Williams College is hosting the first, second and third rounds on the Torrance M. Hunt Courts in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Carnegie Mellon University will have three tennis players in the singles field at the 2017 NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Tennis Championships after senior Nicholle Torres (Weston, Fla./Great Neck South) and junior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) were selected on the women’s side and sophomore Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) was selected on the men’s side. The NCAA Singles Championship will begin on May 25 at The Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 11th nationally, finished third at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship after defeating the Bears of Washington University in St. Louis, 6-3, in the third-place match on Saturday, April 22. The Tartans move to 17-7 for the season, while the Bears, ranked 10th in the nation, are 12-10.

The 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team fell to top ranked Emory University, 7-2, in the semifinals of the University Athletic Association Championships Friday, April 21. The championships this season are being played at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The Tartans are now 16-7 while the Eagles improve to 12-5.

The three-day event is being held at the Sanlando Park Tennis Complex in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans, ranked 11th nationally and the fourth seed for the tournament, are now 16-6 for the season.
