Bio
The Carnegie Mellon University Department of Athletics hired Mike Kelley to be the Tartans’ assistant strength and conditioning coach in fall 2024.
Kelley was a graduate assistance apprentice with the Tartans since January 2024 while earning his master's degree in sport science from the University of Pittsburgh.
Kelley began his career in the sports performance field as a Sports Performance intern for men's and women's basketball, women's lacrosse, and women's tennis while he was a student at Slippery Rock University studying exercise science.
Following graduation, Kelley worked as a trainer at Umberger Performance before returning to the collegiate ranks as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Grove City College from 2019 through 2022 while also working as a strength and conditioning coach at Robert Morris University for a year.
His studies at the University of Pittsburgh included working as a sports science intern with the football program. He has been a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 2017.
