#18 Tartans Overpower Chatham 88-66; Wingen Wins Career 400
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The 18th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team traveled across Forbes Avenue to take on the Cougars of Chatham University Wednesday night. Head Coach Tony Wingen got his 400th career win as a head coach, as the Tartans defeated the Cougars 88-66 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Chatham is now 1-1.

How it Happened
- The Cougars led 22-15 at the 10:18 mark of the first half.
- Over the next eight minutes of play the Tartans converted 12-of-15 from the floor and used a 30-7 run to take a 45-29 advantage.
- During the run, junior Justin Allen scored 15 of the Tartans 30 points.
- Chatham scored the final four points of the half to cut the Tartans lead to 45-33 at the break.
- The Cougars opened the second half on an 8-1 run to continue their run to 12-1 from the end of the first frame which made the score 46-41 four minutes into play.
- The Tartans answered and pushed their lead back to double figure following a triple by senior Aidan Murphy that made the score 57-47 with 13 minutes to play.
- Carnegie Mellon's lead never dipped below 10 points the rest of the way and took its largest lead of the contest at 88-62 with 2:32 to play.

- After shooting 58.1% in the first half, the Tartans finished shotting 49.2%% from the floor and converted 7-of-19 from behind the arc for 36.8%.
- Allen led the Tartans with 30 points after he converted 10-of-18 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the foul lin.
- Junior Buckley DeJardin scored 21 points and graduate student R.J. Holmes finished with 15.
- Senior Nolan Casey and Holmes both grabbed nine rebounds. Casey also had four assists.
- Casey also finished with a team-high four assists.
Chatham Stats
- The Cougars shot 30.8% from the floor and converted 10-of-31 from behind the arc for 32.3%.
- Simon Boyer led Chatham with 22 points and connected on 4-of-9 from long range.
- Drew Vizenor also notched double figures, as he finished with 14 points.
Game Notes
- Allen now has scored 30 or more points in five games for his career.
- Holmes is now tied for ninth on the career rebound list with 643 for his career. He needs 12 more to move into eighth all-time.
