Allen Records 1,000 Point in 69-66 Victory for #22 Tartans

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 22nd-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team pulled out a gritty win at home on Saturday, December 7 against Bowdoin College in the first game of University Athletic Association (UAA) Challenge. The Tartans topped the Polar Bears, 69-66, by breaking a tie in the last nine seconds of the game to move to 6-1 for the year while the Polar Bears drop to 6-2.

Inside the Box Score

  • Junior Justin Allen scored nine of the team's first 13 points and the game stood tied at 13-all with 10:05 left in the first half.
  • Bowdoin took the lead on the next possession and kept it through the half to lead by five, 32-26, at the break.
  • Neither team could find an offensive rhythm in the first period as the Polar Bears shot 31.3% from floor and the Tartans hit 30.3% from the floor.

  • Senior Nolan Casey grabbed 11 boards and dished out three assists.

  • Afamdi Achufusi had 10 points while Kevin Reeves had 10 rebounds and eight points.

  • Allen became the 22nd Tartan to reach 1,000 points scored and now has 1,019.
