(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted Brandeis University for each team's University Athletic Association (UAA) opener on Saturday, October 5. The Tartans rallied to tie the score in the second half but a quick response by the Judges gave the visitors a 2-1 win. The Tartans are now 6-3-2 overall and 0-1 in the UAA while the Judges are 4-3-2 and 1-0.
Inside the Box Score
- Elan Romo put the Judges on top 1-0 with a goal in the 18th minute.
- Senior Jake Kavan had a header stopped in the 35th minute and sophomore Kai Yamamoto made a save in the 38th minute for the game to stay 1-0 at the half.
- A shot by Rainer Osselmann-Chai hit off the inside of the left post in the 48th minute and Yamamoto made a save in the 62nd minute.
- The Tartans equalized in the 64th minute when junior Brendan Schonwetter dove forward at the far post to head in a corner kick service by freshman Drew McKim.
- The Judges answered right off the restart with a long pass down the center of the field. It was flicked on by Nico Beninda before Eli Mones finished the shot from just outside the 18-yard box.
- The Tartans had two shots on goal in the final 25 minutes and four others off the mark.
