Tartans Top Westminster and SUNY Geneseo

(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team defeated both Westminster College and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, January 21 at Westminster in its first meet of the second semester.

Freshman Andrew Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) took second in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:36.63 and won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:46.02. Freshman Jonathon Lin (Campbell, Calif./Westmont) touched first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.42 while Yee's older brother Brandon, a junior, finished second in 1:47.21.

Freshman Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview) followed Lin's win in the 200-yard freestyle with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in 54.85 before Brandon Yee won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:55.60 ahead of junior teammate Daniel Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) in 1:57.88.

Sophomore Eddie Sears (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.14 before the first break when senior diver Eli Fatsi (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) won the 1-meter board with 269.70 points. Fatsi later finished second on the 3-meter board with 268.30 points.

Sears then won the 100-yard freestyle after the break in 49.23 before Razanav won his second event of the day in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:56.99.

Freshmen Daniel Mock (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) and Cole Um (Federal Way, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) finished two-three in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:17.52 and 2:18.09. Glaser-Garbrick picked up his first victory of the day in the 200-yard IM in 2:00.91 before the Tartans finished the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Sears, Lin, sophomore Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) and senior Matt Stanton (Richboro, Pa./Council) touched in 3:16.00.

The Tartans return home on Saturday, January 28 for their senior meet to face Denison University. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
