Tartans Win 13 Events in Victory Over Case Western Reserve

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team hosted Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, November 2 and topped the Spartans by a 211-87 score with 13 first-place finishes.

Top Performances

  • The Tartans opened and closed the meet with relay victories with the 200-yard medley group of junior Arnav Deshpande, senior Christian Lanuza, sophomore Brayden Morford, and junior DJ Lloyd touching in 1:30.63. The 400-yard freestyle team of freshman Matthew Peitler, Lloyd, freshman Todd Dong, and Desphande touching in 3:05.81.
  • Morford was a triple winner with a victory the 200-yard freestyle in 1:40.58, the 100-yard freestyle in 46.17, and the 200-yard IM in 1:51.18.
  • Freshman Matvey Malinovski was a double winner with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in 49.61 and the 200-yard backstroke in 1:48.52.
  • Deshpande finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in 51.00 with sophomore Ljubomir Popovic taking third in 52.20.
  • Lanuza led a sweep of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.18 and later won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:04.53.
  • Lloyd touched first in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.78 with Peitler touching second in 20.86.
  • Freshman William Gao was first in the 100-yard butterfly in 50.67 with Lloyed placing second in 51.79.
  • Senior Jonathan Lindstrom won the 1-meter diving event with 268.35 points and the 3-meter event with 266.25 points.
