Tartans Win in Gettysburg

(GETTYSBURG, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming team traveled to compete against Gettysburg College on Saturday, November 9. The Tartans beat the Bullets 201.5 to 60.5.
Top Performances
- The Tartans swept the 200-yard medley relay. Junior Arnav Deshpande, senior Christian Lanuza, sophomore Brayden Morford, and junior DJ Lloyd placed first with a time of 1:31.65.
- The Tartans swept the 1000-yard freestyle, led by sophomore Miles Haraldsson who won with a time of 9:51.48.
- Freshman Matvey Malinovski won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.77 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:49.24.
- Morford swam the 100-yard backstroke in 49.01, placing first place.
- Lanuza, sophomore Aaron Lee, and junior Max Kulbida swept the 100-yard breaststroke. Lanuza won the event with a time of 56.10.
- Lanuza also won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:05.40.
- Freshman William Gao placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.11.
- DJ Lloyd swam the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.04, placing first.
- Lloyd also led a sweep of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.34.
- Freshman Matthew Peitler won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 46.18.
- Sophomore Jacob Quan led a sweep of the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:44.55.
- Morford, Peitler, Lloyd, and Deshpande won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.43.

The swimmers will travel to Kenyon College for the Kenyon Invitational on Thursday, November 21 through Saturday, November 23. The divers will host the CMU Diving Invitational on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23.
