Tartans Open Spring Semester at Denison With Calvin

(GRANVILLE, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon men's swimming and diving team traveled to the Trumbull Aquatics Center at Denison University to compete against Denison and Calvin University on Saturday, January 11.
Top Performances
- Freshman Matvey Malinovski, senior Christian Lanuza, sophomore Brayden Morford, and junior DJ Lloyd placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:31:11.
- The team of Morford, Lloyd, graduate student Frank Jones, and freshman Todd Dong placed third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.18.
- Freshman Philip Thayer swam the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 9:44.82, finishing third.
- Morford placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 49.30, before taking third in the 100-yard butterfly later in the meet with a time of 49.63.
- Lanuza won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 55.17 and finished fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:03.24.
- Junior David Zoota was sixth in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:55.58.
- Jones was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.55.
- Malinovski took fourth place in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:52.32.
- Sophomore Jacob Quan earned a time of 4:42.92 in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in third place.
- Graduate student Santiago Gomez finished the 400-yard IM in sixth place in a time of 4:10.56.
- Sophomore Nico Shuster placed fifth on the 1-meter diving board with 263.30 points.
