Tartans Earn 7 Personal Bests at Kenyon

(GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team traveled to Kenyon College to compete in the Kenyon Fast Chance Invite on Saturday, February 22. The Tartans beat seven personal records and one school record.
Top Performances
- Freshman Matthew Peitler won the 50-yard freestyle, earning a lifetime best time of 20.13.
- Junior Todd Achuff placed second in the 400-yard IM, finishing in a season best time of 4:07.25, 18 seconds faster than his previous best.
- Sophomore Brayden Morford broke the school record and won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:37.27, beating his previous personal record of 1:38.56. Graduate student Santiago Gomez also beat his season top time, finishing in a time of 1:40.79.
- Morford also earned a lifetime best in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 54.33.
- Graduate student Frank Jones finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.20, earning a lifetime best and an NCAA cut time.
- Senior Christian Lanuza placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke, earning a season best time of 2:01.91.
- Freshman Matvey Malinovski earned a time of 1:40.55 in the 200-yard freestyle, beating his personal record.
