#22 Tartans Finish UAA Championship Play Against #14 Brandeis

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The 22nd-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team played 14th-ranked Brandeis University in the fifth-place match of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday morning in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans dropped a 5-3 decision to the Judges in the final dual match of the season for the Cardinal and Gray.
Carnegie Mellon trailed 2-1 following doubles play. The Tartans point came at second doubles when the tandem of senior Sam Gibson (Chico, Calif. / Pleasant Valley) and junior Matthew Poh (Manhattan Beach, Calif. / Mira Costa) won 8-4.
Junior Jonathan Nottingham (Philadelphia, Pa. / Masterman High School) and freshman Benny Zhou (Allen, Texas / iUniversity Prep) picked collected wins at six and five singles, respectively. Nottingham won 6-2, 6-2 and Zhou won 7-5, 6-3.
Carnegie Mellon finishes the season with an overall mark of 6-12.
