Tartans Open Spring Break Trip With 6-3 Loss to Division II Davenport

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team opened its spring trip in Orlando, Florida with a 6-3 setback to Division II Davenport University. The Tartans are now 2-3 in dual match play with Davenport moving to 9-6.
Doubles Play:
- The Panthers swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
Singles Play:
- Davenport took a 4-0 lead before the Tartans rattled off four straight points winning at first, fourth and fifth singles.
- Sophomore Chaitanya Irkar started the scoring with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the five spot.
- The next point for the Cardinal and Gray game at four singles when senior Jonathan Nottingham won 6-3, 6-4.
- Senior Raahil Doshi then made the score 4-3 with a 6-2, 7-5 decision at the top spot.
- The Panthers then clinched the match with a win at second and six singles.
Next Up
- The Tartans will play Hampden-Sydney College at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 5.
