#23 Tartans Edged, 6-3, by #20 Kenyon

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 23rd nationally, played 20th-ranked Kenyon College on Wednesday morning in Orlando, Florida. The Tartans are now 4-4 while the Lords move to 2-5.

How it Happened:

  • After dropping the first point of doubles, the Tartans took the final two with tiebreaker wins at both first and third doubles.
  • The first point came by the tandem of senior Raahil Doshi and junior Jaden D'Abreo who won 8-7 (5) in the three spot.
  • The Tartans to duo of senior Matthew Poh and junior Nicholas Wernink then won 8-7 (3) to close the scoring in doubles.
  • The Lords then won the first three points of singes play to take a 4-2 advantage before sophomore William Wang got the Tartans their first point with a 6-3, 6-3 win at four singles.
  • Kenyon then took the final two points for the 6-3 victory.

Notes:

  • The loss is the first for the Tartans to a Division III opponent. They are now 4-1 against Division III teams on the season.

  • The Tartans will play on Thursday, March 9 at 1:30 p.m. against eighth-ranked N.C. Wesleyan.
