Tartans Drop 9-0 Decision to #10 Denison

(BOARDMAN, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 27th, played 10th-ranked Denison University on Saturday, March 25 in Boardman, Ohio. The Big Red earned the victory by a 9-0 score to move the Tartans' record to 5-6.

How it Happened

  • Denison first won 8-2 at third doubles before earning an 8-3 win at first doubles.
  • Junior Derek Wong and freshman Akshay Joshi then fell at second doubles, 8-6.
  • Senior Matthew Poh forced a second-set tiebreaker but fell 6-1, 7-6 (8-5) at third singles.
  • Freshman Chaitanya Irkar also played a second-set tiebreaker, eventually falling 7-5, 7-6 (10-8) at sixth singles.
