Tartans Top Division I Saint Francis 7-2

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 22nd, played Division I Saint Francis University on Friday, April 7. The Tartans won 7-2 and are now 6-6 overall and 1-3 against non-Division III opponents.

How it Happened

  • The teams played singles matches first with the Tartans taking a 5-1 lead.
  • Freshman Sebastien Lhuillier was the first to finish at fifth singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
  • Freshman Chaitanya Irkar then won 6-1, 6-2 at sixth singles.
  • Senior Raahil Doshi won at the first position, 7-5, 6-0.
  • Senior Matthew Poh and junior Nicholas Wernink both won after a third-set super tiebreaker.
  • In doubles action, Lhuillier and senior Jonathan Nottingham won 8-3 at the third position.
  • Doshi and junior Jaden D'Abreo also won at second doubles, 8-6.
