Tartans Host Division I Duquesne, Fall 7-2

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team hosted Division I Duquesne University on Thursday, April 13. The Tartans, ranked 22nd in Division III, fell to the Dukes, 7-2 to move to 6-7 overall.

How it Happened

  • The Dukes won all three doubles matches but not before the second doubles pair of junior Derek Wong and freshman Akshay Joshi forced a tiebreaker, eventually falling 8-7 (7-5).
  • Senior Matthew Poh earned the Tartans' first point with a 6-3, 6-4 win at third singles against junior Tamirlan Teberikov.
  • The Tartans' other victory came at sixth singles by sophomore Chaitanya Irkar won 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 against junior Bode Vance.

Notes

  • The win for Poh is his 10th singles victory this season.
