Tartans Host Invitational, Win 15 Singles Matches

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon men's tennis team hosted its annual invitational over the weekend. The Tartans competed against Duquesne University, Bucknell University and Edinboro University.

Highlights of Singles Play

  • The Tartans won 15 out of the 28 singles matches they competed in.
  • Freshman Alex Feies won all three of the singles matches he competed in. He defeated both Bucknell and Edinboro with scores of 6-2, 6-1.
  • Freshman Fernando Limon also won all three singles matches as well. He won all three matches in two sets.
  • Sophomore Raghav Jangbahadur won against both Duquesne and Edinboro.
  • Sophomore Daniel Kong also won two matches.

 Highlights of Doubles Play

  • The Tartans won 8 out of 14 doubles matches that they competed in.
  • Junior Akshay Joshi and Feies won all three doubles matches they competed in against Bucknell, Edinboro, and Duquesne.
  • Kong won two doubles matches with two different partners, Limon and freshman Will Secord.
  • Secord also won two doubles matches. Along with freshman Brendan Hendrata, he beat Edinboro 6-4.

The Tartans will travel to University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia for the ITA Regionals on Friday, September 27 through Sunday, September 29.
