Strong Singles Play Leads #26 Tartans to Victory

(GEORGETOWN, Texas) – The 26th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team defeated 30th-ranked Southwestern University on Thursday, March 6 by a 6-1 score. The Tartans are now 6-4 for the season.

How it Happened

  • The Pirates earned the doubles point with wins at first and second doubles.
  • The Tartans got wins from the first, second, fourth, and sixth possessions to secure the match win before winning at fifth and third singles.
  • Sophomore Daniel Kong won 6-2, 6-4 at fourth singles while sophomore Raghav Jangbahadur won 7-5, 6-2 at second singles.
  • Senior Akshay Joshi won 7-5, 7-5 at sixth singles and freshman Alex Feies won a three-set match at first singles to clinch the match.
  • The Tartans finished their spring break week with three straight wins.
