#27 Tartans and #15 Johns Hopkins Fight for Final Point with Hopkins Winning 4-3

(FREDERICKSBURG, Va.) – The 27th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team faced 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Friday, April 4 at the University of Mary Washington. The match came down to the final singles point with the Blue Jays winning 4-3. The Tartans are now 8-6 overall.
How it Happened
- With the doubles point up for grabs after freshman Alex Feies and sophomore Daniel Kong won 6-3 at third doubles, Johns Hopkins was able to win the deciding match, 6-4, in the second position to take a 1-0 lead.
- Feies tied the score at 1-1 with a 6-0, 6-3 win at first singles.
- After Hopkins took back the lead, freshman Takeshi Koey won 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at fifth singles.
- A win at sixth singles by JHU happened ahead of freshman Brendan Hendrata winning 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 at third singles to tie the match at 3-3.
- Minutes later, sophomore Raghav Jangbahadur was in a third-set tiebreaker and fell 8-6 for a full match score of 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (8-6) to Chakor Sankaran Rajendra.
