Tartans Open Winter Indoor Season at SPIRE Midwest Collegiate

(GENEVA, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University's men indoor track and field team competed at the SPIRE Midwest Collegiate Invitational at the SPIRE Institute on Saturday.

Top Performances on the Field:

  • Senior Bailey O' Malley placed third in the shot put with his first attempt going 14.80 meters.
  • Junior Cody Breidenbach and sophomore Sam Alligood finished fifth and seventh in the weight throw, with Breidenbach's second attempt going 15.41 meters and Alligood's final attempts going 14.78 meters.
  • Junior Sebastian Sanso finished third in the high jump, clearing the bar a t a career-best height of 1.95 meters.
  • Sanso, junior Luke Blackwell, and freshman Pujith Kachana finished third, fourth and seventh, respectively, in the triple jump. Sanso marked at 13.07 meters on his first attempt, Blackwell marked at 12.79 meters in his second, and Kachana marked at 12.05 meters in his third.
  • Freshman Ryan Handron finished fifth in pole vault with a mark of 4.40 meters and sophomore Christian Duckworth finished seventh with a mark of 4.25 meters.

The Tartans will travel to Bucknell University for the Bucknell Open and Multi meet on Friday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 27 at 10:00 a.m. They will also attend the Muskie Meet at Muskingum University on Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m.
