Tartans Gear Up for UAAs With Top Performances at Penn State and Mount Union

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Penn State Last Chance Meet on Friday and the Mount Union Tune Up at the University of Mount Union on Saturday.

Top Performances on the Track at Penn State:

  • Senior Thomas Rich finished first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.35.
  • Junior Aleksei Seletskiy finished fourth in the men's mile with a time of 4.13.73, followed by junior Eamon Brady with a time of 4:14.08, and finally freshman Christian Brower finished sixth with a time of 4:18.06.
  • Senior David Durdaller finished fifth with a time of 8:32.70 in the 3000-meter run.

Top Performance on the Field at Penn State:

  • Senior Bailey O'Malley finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 16.01 meters.
  • Rich won the long jump with a mark of 6.70 meters.
  • O'Malley finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 14.78 meters.
  • Rich finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 2 meters.

Top Performances on the Track at Mount Union:

  • Junior Seth Williams finished first in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:44.59.
  • Senior Pranav Rajbhandari finished first with a time of 52.54 in the 400-meter dash.
  • Sophomore Bennett Wong finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.10.
  • Wong also finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.03.
  • Jackson Ellinger finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.47 and Saaketh Nandakumar finished fifth with a time of 2:00.09.

Top Performances in the Field at Mount Union:

  • Sophomore Sam Alligood finished first in the weight throw with a mark of 15.24 meters, with junior Nathaniel Deyak finishing third with a mark of 14.24 meters.
  • Freshman Atai Tahasan finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 13.16 meters.
  • Christian Duckworth finished third in the pole vault with a time of 4.59 meters.

Notes

  • Wong broke a personal record in the 60-meter dash.
  • Alligood set a personal record by a remarkable .37 meters in the weight throw.
  • William had a personal record by eight seconds in the 3000-meter run.
