Alligood Turns in Two Career-Best Marks as Tartans Compete at John Papa Invitational

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed in the John Papa Invitational at Slipper Rock University on Thursday.
On the Field:
- Sophomore Sam Alligood got a mark of 45.19 meters for the discus throw, placing sixth. Alligood also got sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.93 meters and fourth in the shot put with a throw of 15.31 meters. His marks in the discus and hammer were career-best throws.
- Sophomore Morgan Johnson took first place in the long jump with a career-best leap of 7.06 meters.
- Junior Sebastian Sanso finished sixth in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.88 meters.
- Sophomore Christian Duckworth finished second with a mark of 4.65 meters in the pole vault.
- Sanso finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.60 meters and freshman Pujith Kachana finished sixth with a mark of 12.65 meters.
- Freshman Derek Armfield finished fifth in the javelin throw with a throw of 51.92 meters.
On the Track:
- Freshman Jeremy Ocloo placed second in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 49.61 and sophomore Gaven Williams finished fifth in 50.31.
- Senior Thomas Rich, freshman Philip Ma and sophomore Tyler Williams took fourth, fifth and sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 56.03, 57.35, and 57.72. It was a season-best time for Ma and Williams.
