Men’s Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2024 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 28th consecutive year.
The men's track and field team earned the distinction because of a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or better for the 2023-24 academic year, as the Tartans carried a cumulative team GPA of 3.51 for the academic year.

In addition to the team earning the award, eight individuals were honored:

Sophomore Sam Alligood - Business
Freshman Derek Armfield - Computer Science
Junior Cody Breidenbach - Electrical Computer Engineer
Sophomore Christian Duckworth - Architecture
Freshman Ryan Handron - Mechanical Engineering
Senior Andrew McGovern - Mechanical Engineering
Graduate student Matthew Porter - International Relations
Junior Sebastian Sanso - Computer Science

All eight individuals qualified for the award by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better while either competing at the NCAA Championships or finishing the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or top 35 in a relay event.
