Tartans Compete at Bucknell and Mount Union

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at two different meets over the weekend. Two athletes traveled to Bucknell University for the Bison Open while the rest of the team competed at the University of Mount Union at the Wuske Invite.

Top Performances at Bucknell

  • Freshman Luke Freimanis and senior Casey Potrebic took second and third in the heptathlon with scores of 4,972 and 4,794, respectively.
  • Freimanis won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.35, placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.87 meters, second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.08 meters, third in the 60-meter dash with a time 7.19, third in the long jump with a mark 6.60 meters, and fourth in the 2:53.80.
  • Potrebic won the pole vault clearing the bar at 4.38 meters, placed second in the 1000-meter run crossing in 2:49.16, second in the shot put with a mark of 12.56 meters and took fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.27.

Top Performances at Mount Union

  • Junior Morgan Johnson won the long jump with a mark of 6.70 meters.
  • Junior Kenji Tella took second in the 3000-meter run in 8:56.85.
  • Seniors Matthew Coyle and Eamon Brady took second and fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:19.60 and 4:20.46. Brady also placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.79.
  • Freshman Kurt Schimmel placed second with a time of 8.69 in 60-meter hurdles.
  • Junior Johnathan Crawshaw placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 14.25 meters while senior Nathaniel Deyak also turned in a seventh-place shoing in the weight throw with a mark of 14.28 meters.
  • Sophomore Solomon Glavach took sixth place with a mark of 4.43 meters in the pole vault.
  • Sophomore Atai Tahasan and freshman Lucas Knappenberger took fourth and fifth in the triple jump with marks of 12.93 and 12.54 meters.
