Tartans Compete at Penn State and Mount Union

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team traveled to two meets on Friday. The Tartans competed in the Penn State Tune Up and the Mount Union Last Chance meet for the last competition before University Athletics association (UAA) Championship.

Top Events at Penn State Tune Up

  • Senior Sebastian Sanso took second place in the triple jump with a mark of 13.87 meters, followed by sophomore Atai Tahasan who took fourth with a mark of 13.51 meters.
  • Sanso placed sixth with a mark of 1.95 meters for the high jump.
  • Freshman Devin Chang took fourth place in the 60-meter dash with a season-best time of 7.02.
  • Sophomore Matthew Short placed third in the mile with a time of 4:13.71.
  • Junior Bennett Wong finished fifth with a time of 22.33 in the 200-meter run.
  • Senior Seth Williams finished in a personal-best time of 8:37.69 in the 3000-meter run for sixth place.

Top Events at Mount Union Last Chance

  • Junior Johnathan Crawshaw took fourth place in the shot put with a career-best mark of 14.75 meters.
  • The pole vault saw sophomore Solomon Glavach clear at 4.62 meters, senior Casey Potrebic clear 4.52 meters and freshman Lucas Knappenberger cleared the bar at 4.42 meters. All were personal-best heights with Glavach placing third, Potrebic sixth and Knappenberger eighth.
  • Freshman Thomas Cherian recorded a mark of 6.47 meters for fifth place in the long jump.
  • Senior Nathaniel Deyak took eight in the weight throw with a mark of 14.08 meters.
  • Freshman Kurt Schimmel took fourth with a time of 8.64 in the 60-meter hurdles.

  • The Tartans will compete next at the UAA Championships hosted by the University of Chicago on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2.
