Coyle Earns All-America Honor, Two Others Start Heptathlon at NCAA Championships

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Matthew Coyle, junior Casey Potrebic and freshman Luke Freimanis of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team competed at the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships of Friday, March 14. The championships are being held at the Golisano Training Center at Nazareth University.
NCAA Performances
- Coyle earned All-America Second Team with a 16th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run on Friday. His time of 14:34.92 securely placed him 16th and gave him his second All-America honor for his career.
- Following the first day of the heptathlon, where four events took place, Freimanis is in 12th place with 2,735 points and Potrebic is in 17th place with 2,610 points.
- Freimanis took sixth place with a career-best time of 7.14 in the 60-meter run while Potrebic took 13th place with a time of 7.29.
- Freimanis also took sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.74 meters with Potrebic hitting a career-best mark of 6.11 meters for 20th.
- Potrebic took second place with a mark of 12.44 meters in the shot put while Freimanis placed 19th with a career-best mark of 10.46 meters.
- Freimanis took 14th in the high jump and Portebic took 17th with marks of 1.81 and 1.75 meters.

The championship continues on Saturday, March 15 with Freimanis and Potrebic starting off in the 60-meter hurdles of the heptathlon at 10:00 a.m.
